The EDP Foundation is bringing the Viva Nuestra Energía (Hurray for our Energy) education programme to Madrid, as part of the Book Fair that is taking place in the Spanish capital from the 26th of May to the 11th of June. The programme is offering sessions on the 3rd, 4th, 10th and 11th of June.
On Saturday the 3rd, the programme will be at the Eugenio Trías Library, from 5 to 8 PM, while on Sunday the 4th it will be at the Bandstand in the Retiro Park, also from 5 to 8 PM. The programme will be offered at the same times and places on the 10th and 11th of June.
The Viva Nuestra Energía programme is given in a travelling classroom. It is aimed at primary education students, aged from 6 to 10. The activity is run by monitors who teach the contents in an entertaining, experiential and participative way. The sessions are based around an interactive presentation and cartoon videos.
The monitors explain what energy is and how it is produced; renewable and non-renewable energy sources; efficient energy use and how to use electricity safely. After the exhibition, students are given tips on energy efficiency and take part in a team quiz.
Apart from the monitors, the education programme will also be livened up by the characters Lolo Eolo and Juan Volcán, who give out presents to the children.
EDP launched the Viva Nuestra Energía programme in 2010. More than 250,000 pupils from 1,000 different schools in Spain have taken part since then.
The economic newspaper Expansión recognised the organisation as a ‘sustainable institution’ at the sixth edition of the ‘Innovación + Sostenibilidad + Red 2020’ awards
