The 175 students at Oviedo University, that are taking part in the EDP Foundation Grant programme, have received the diplomas that provide proof of their training at the company. The rector of Oviedo University, Santiago García Granda, the Managing Director of EDP in Spain, Miguel Stilwell de Andrade, and the Manager of the EDP Foundation, Nicanor Fernández, presented the students with the diplomas. The ceremony took place in the Main Lecture Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University.
This year the EDP Foundation has allocated a million Euros to the programme. The students began their training period in October. Since then, they have carried out their practical training at various workplaces belonging to the company. As a result, for example, there are students at the power plants in Aboño and Soto de Ribera, at the corporate headquarters in Oviedo or at the workplace in Roces, in Gijón.
The EDP Foundation grants, which are a result of the agreement signed with Oviedo University, are worth 2,170 euros and last for a six-month period which can be extended. Each of the grant holders is assigned a tutor, who helps and supervises their work. This academic year (2015-2016) students from more than 30 specialities joined the programme, including the degrees in Company Administration and Management and Industrial Engineering, with 60 and 30 students, respectively.
As well as the agreement with Oviedo University, the EDP Foundation has also signed agreements with other Spanish universities and schools to promote the training of more students at the different facilities and workplaces that the company has in other communities. As a result of this, more than 20 students are carrying out practical training in Madrid, Barcelona, La Coruña, Valencia and Zaragoza.
