Energy School
Energy Education Program

Energy School

“Energy School - Energy Education Programme” sets out to bolster awareness of issues in connection with sustainability, and to foster values, attitudes and knowledge among students in relation to renewable energies, human rights, and also awareness of the importance of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“Energy School” has an in situ format, but it also operates as a free online platform for schools which makes use of new technologies and gamification, educational and fun contents for pupils ranging from 6 to 16 years old: task cards, interactive games, experiment videos, escape rooms, handicraft etc.

The platform is also a powerful tool for teachers, providing them with a number of educational resources adapted to their various subjects, giving them the classroom support they need for issues relating to sustainability, and to produce more interactive dynamic classes encouraging team work.

We Choose Earth

Our Energy School's competition for schoolchildren, which we want to use to move forward and challenge pupils to come up with ideas to boost sustainability in their closest environment: their own school. We Choose Earth sets out to encourage transversal projects, which can then be transferred and applied at other schools, thereby fostering a "green" culture right across the educational board.

The competition is for pupils in the second and third "cycles", i.e. 8 -10 years old and 10 - 12 years old. The winner will earn the right to a solar facility or an electricity recharging device at his/her school, to a maximum amount of 5,000 € from the EDP Foundation, or some other kind of sustainability initiative based on a diagnostic of the school's needs.

New competition: 2025

On 18 February, Cádiz will be hosting the final gala event of the competition for schoolchildren "We Choose Earth", where pupils can submit their sustainability ideas.

If you missed the gala ceremonies live, you can find them here:

The Energy School programme goes back quite some time, and began in 2010 with the ‘Viva nuestra energía’ education programme as a series of live workshops to give students a better understanding of the world and nature, and teach them how to be more aware and more responsible consumers. In 2020, as a result of the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the programme expanded through utilisation of a digital education platform, and became the “Your Energy” programme, making it available to schoolchildren in either the local or the remote format. The project was introduced in Portugal in 2023, with the intention of implementing it in other countries.
