The programme was presented this Tuesday in the Greek room of the Festival Hall of Cantabria, attended by Gema Igual, Vice Chairwoman of the Board and Mayoress of Santander, Marina Bolado, patron of the Festival and Director General of Culture of the Government of Cantabria, and Jaime Martín, artistic director of the Festival. Joaquín Moro, the representative of the company in the region, attended on behalf of EDP.

This coming summer, the IFS is firmly committed to reaching out to as many people as possible and continuing the artistic line of quality of previous years. It also aims to be a meeting point cased around the music and dance of artists and performers from different cultural backgrounds.

In this latest edition, you will be able to hear the sounds of orchestras from Asia and America, something which is quite unusual on the European circuits.

The opening concert will take place on Saturday, August 5 with Juan Pérez Floristán and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, under the baton of Juanjo Mena. The Sevillian pianist, winner of the Paloma O'Shea International Piano Competition in 2015, will thus confirm his international status, at an event that will be sponsored by the EDP Foundation.

Yuja Wang, Jordi Savall, Charles Dutoit, Thomas Hengelbrock, Vadim Repin and Leonidas Kavakos will head the list of artists who will be involved in the 48 events that make up this edition. In addition, concerts by the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Verdi's Requiem with the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orfeón Donostiarra will be some of the major symphonic events.

Throughout the month, the International Festival of Santander will offer Baroque and symphonic concerts, dance performances, recitals, contemporary music, chamber and early music concerts, family shows and concerts in historical landmarks in the region. The Festival Hall of Cantabria will host 23 events: twenty shows and three film screenings.
