The EDP Foundation grants programme enables a large number of interns from Oviedo University and other Spanish universities to be able to do paid internships at different workplaces at EDP each year. This grants programme is open to students from more than 30 specialities at different faculties and schools, as well as to students who are taking a master’s degree. Interns are selected on the basis of their academic records and before they start their internship, they take an induction course on company policies that may affect their temporary placement at EDP, such as quality, the environment, access to the intranet and the prevention of risks in the workplace. Once they have finished their internship, they are given an accredited diploma.

95 students from Oviedo University will complete their training at EDP during the forthcoming academic year. The EDP Foundation has launched the call for the Martín González del Valle scholarship programme, which is aimed at students from more than 20 specialities. The programme, which has been allocated almost one million Euros, is the leading placement scheme at Oviedo University.

Students interested in taking part in the programme can apply from the 4th to the 15th of September, through the internships application at Oviedo University (https://sies.uniovi.es/serviciosacademicos). The Qualifications -18 degrees and 6 Master’s degrees, include Electrical engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Law and Commerce and Marketing.

The programme, which this year celebrates its 36th anniversary, forms part of the activities that the EDP Foundation promotes in the field of education. It is named after Martín González del Valle, who presided over the energy company from 1987 to 1999, and was then honorary chairman of the company and the EDP Foundation until his death in 2015.

Martín González del Valle Scholarships, which are the result of an agreement with the University of Oviedo, are paid and have a maximum duration of ten months. The training period will start in October, when each student joins the workplace that they have been assigned to. Internships are carried out in all areas of the company, under the supervision of tutors, who train and help students. They also take part in innovation and continuous improvement programmes, where they provide their ideas and share experiences with the other students.

As well as the agreement with Oviedo University, the EDP Foundation has also signed agreements with other Spanish universities and schools to promote the training of more students at the different facilities and workplaces that the company has in other communities. The aim of these grants is to provide practical training at EDP for students from Oviedo University. This is the leading work placement scheme at the University and one of the most important initiatives run by the EDP Foundation. Since it was set up in 1983, over 100 people who took part in the programme have gone on to join the workforce of the EDP Group in Spain.
