The streets of Oviedo were the scene of the last race of 2016 in the city: the EDP San Silvestre. The 5,500 people who took part in the race enjoyed a run round the centre and old town of Oviedo. Thousands of well wrapped up fans took to the streets to cheer on the athletes, who wanted to end the year doing sport.
Moha Bakkali (17:06) and Verónica Pérez (19:39) fulfilled their role as favourites and won in the male and female categories respectively.
The race featured four groups: under-10s, under-12s, under-14s and the rest. The first three races, 500, 800 and 1,200 metres respectively, brought together 1,000 children, while in the main event, 4,500 people ran 5.5 kilometres.
As in previous years, the organisation confirmed that the number of entrants was at capacity, proof of the growing interest in running. With its support of this race, EDP ended a year in which it was the energy for more than 120,000 people in more than 30 races in which it collaborated.
