Portraying heritage sites with a combination of film and historic rigour. That is the goal of digital platform patrimoniuindustrial.com, presented on Monday 8 July at the University of Oviedo's Milán Campus. The project has won the backing of 16 public and private institutions, among which the EDP Foundation. EDP, in fact, will be represented in this multimedia report with audiovisual material on its hydraulic and thermal power plants, among other facilities.
The Chancellor of the University of Oviedo, Santiago García Granda, and the Government of the Principality of Asturias’ Secretary for Employment, Industrial and Tourism, Isaac Pola, attended the presentation of this project headed up by Asturias film director Marcos M. Merino through the Freews production company.
The patrimoniuindustrial.com platform will initially show over 300 audiovisual items which portray heritage sites with a combination of film and historic rigour. The website also features introductory texts by 18 researchers and more than 1,000 milestones in the industrial history of the Principality of Asturias. The graphic section contains photographs, location maps and over one hundred videos with the oral testimony of employees and the glossaries of industrial sectors.
The project sets out to build up the Asturias legacy, with a target of 500 audiovisual heritage items before year-end. This initiative has come to the fore following more than two years' work by a 30-strong professional team working in industrial heritage, films, photography, the history of art, architecture, design, web programming, journalism and marketing.
Luz Minera is the title of the winning project of the second Public Art Ideas Competition, a competition organised by the EDP Foundation.
