The Deputy Regional Minister for Culture of the Principality of Asturias, Vicente Domínguez; the Director General of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins; and the Manager for the entity in Asturias, Ángel Moraleda; and the members of the Datatrón Collective Cristina de Silva and Nacho de la Vega, inaugurated the installation today.

The collaboration of the EDP Foundation will enable this exciting project to be seen in Spain for the first time. A project that focuses upon the materiality of memories and offers new insights on the representation of data visualization, in a perfect dialogue between science, art and technology.

Refik Anadol, of Turkish origin and based in Los Angeles, is a brilliant audiovisual artist who reassesses a new aesthetic, technical and dynamic perception of space. Anadol’s installations not only address the productive fusion of leading-edge technology and art, but also a deep concern for the study of human memory, from ancient Egypt to Blade Runner 2049. The title of the exhibition, ‘Melting Memories’, refers to the artist’s experience with the unforeseen interconnections between several fundamental philosophical works, academic research and works of art that have memory as their main theme.

The exhibit will be open to the public from 29 April to 5 May, opening hours are as follows: from 29 April to 2 May, from 12 pm to 9 pm; 3 May, from 12 pm to 1 am; 4 May, from 12 pm to 12 am; and 5 May, from 12 pm to 9 pm. Access to the installation is free of charge.
