The EDP Foundation signs a collaboration agreement with Caritas Asturias to develop Energy Solidarity

03.31.2017

The EDP Foundation has signed a collaboration agreement with Caritas Asturias to develop the Energy Solidarity 2017 initiative. It was signed at the corporate headquarters of EDP in Oviedo by Ignacio Alonso, director of Caritas Asturias, and Vanda Martins, executive director of the EDP Foundation.

Energy Solidarity is an initiative being developed in collaboration with Cáritas and the Red Cross. It will make it possible to increase the security, welfare and energy efficiency of the poorest families and centres of the entities collaborating with the EDP Foundation.

The initiative is being carried out in various phases. Firstly, Cáritas and the Red Cross are identifying and reporting on families and centres that are eligible for this action, so that EDP can plan to visit them.

During these visits, EDP carries out an energy audit to suggest a improvement proposal for every family and centre With the data obtained, a plan of action is devised for implementing the improvement actions at each home and centre, and these will be monitored and checked.

Volunteers from EDP are collaborating in this initiative. Their task is to inform the families of the measures to be implemented and train them in their consumption habits, measures for making savings and how to interpret bills.

To carry out this initiative, the EDP Foundation has the participation of the different business areas of EDP and is open to all interested collaborators.
