The Princess of Asturias Foundation now has six electric vehicles for their movements during Awards week. The director of the EDP Foundation, Nicanor Fernández, handed over the vehicles to the director of the Princess of Asturias Foundation, Teresa Sanjurjo, at a ceremony that took place this Thursday at the Hotel de la Reconquista, in Oviedo.
There are four 100% electric cars and two hybrid vehicles that can be plugged in (electric and petrol). Batteries will be recharged at the points that EDP has installed in Asturias, both at the facilities of the energy company and at those that the company has installed in public areas.
To date, EDP has implemented 52 recharging points for electric vehicles in public areas in the region, an extensive recharging infrastructure that responds to the needs of users of this type of vehicle. In addition, it has more than 20 points inside its facilities.
There are two recharging options at these points: either by using an EDP sustainable mobility card, which users can apply for through the www.edpmoveon.com website or a via mobile device, which can be used to manage recharges via the website or the 'EDP moveon’ mobile app, which is currently available for Android devices. The website or mobile app can also be used to locate recharging points, the distance to them and their availability, among other functions.
The use of electric vehicles has multiple environmental and economic benefits associated. On the one hand, their use does not involve CO2 emissions or noise pollution. Moreover, the efficiency of these vehicles is three times higher than that of combustion vehicles and, in terms of the recharge price, savings reach up to 80% in comparison with diesel. You can cover 100 kilometres for just 1.50 euros.
Luz Minera is the title of the winning project of the second Public Art Ideas Competition, a competition organised by the EDP Foundation.
