Fernando Pessoa’s work is coming to Madrid with the support of the EDP Foundation. The “PESSOA: All art is a form of literature” exhibition is opening at the Reina Sofía Museum on the 6th of February and will be open to the public until the 7th of May. This support falls within the cultural initiatives that the EDP Foundation collaborates with.
Pessoa forged an avant-garde all of his own through his more than a hundred heteronyms and his numerous texts, many of them unpublished.
The “PESSOA: All art is a form of literature” exhibition takes its title from a quote by Álvaro de Campos, one of the most avant-garde heteronyms created by Fernando Pessoa (Lisbon, 1888-1935), published in the influential Portuguese magazine, Presença.
The exhibition also focuses especially on the magazines published during this period, such as A Águia, Orpheu, K4 O Quadrado Azul, Portugal Futurista or Presença, in which some of Pessoa’s texts appeared and which acted as a sounding board for these avant-garde ideas and were a major aesthetic and ideological influence on the Portuguese intelligentsia in the first half of the 20th century.
Luz Minera is the title of the winning project of the second Public Art Ideas Competition, a competition organised by the EDP Foundation.
