The Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation of Asturaias (Finba) was founded yesterday in Oviedo, under the aegis of the Regional Government together with the University of Oviedo. Thirteen bodies, including private and public institutions, entities and companies, yesterday signed the Finba articles of association in front of a notary public. The signing of the notary deed is a necessary step in order for Finba to be entered in the Foundations Registry for it to be officially established.
The board, which is open to new members, will initially comprise the Government of Asutrias, the University of Oviedo, Cajastur-Liberbank, CAPSA, Alimerka Foundation, Caja Rural Foundation, EDP Foundation, Kiss FM Group, TSK Group, Industrias Lácteas Asturianas, Transinsa Ambulancias de Asturianas, Oviedo City Council and the Pérez Simón Group. A further nine companies are backing the Foundation as benefactors.
The Regional Minister for Health stressed that he was sure that, within roughly one year, the scientists would be working in the laboratories that will be set up in the former Psychiatric Hospital alongside the new University Hospital of Asturias (HUCA).
