This morning, over 50 students from the Elena Sánchez Tamargo school, in Pola de Lavina, helped to release 12,000 trout juveniles into the River Nalón, despite the heavy rain that fell all day.
Work got underway at 11.00 a.m. in the main channel of the river, in the Fontoria Nueva neighbourhood.
The restocking was organised by the Anglers’ Association and Friends of the River Nalón, in conjunction with the EDP Foundation.
For many years now, the EDP Foundation has been involved in this initiative to restock the rivers with fish and which aims to achieve sustainable development in all areas where the company operates.
The economic newspaper Expansión recognised the organisation as a ‘sustainable institution’ at the sixth edition of the ‘Innovación + Sostenibilidad + Red 2020’ awards
