Verónica Pérez clocked up a time of 1 hour, 18 minutes and 53 seconds in Asturias's most important half marathon, the Ruta de la Reconquista. This time set a new record for this 21-kilometre race that starts and ends at the Roman Bridge and the landmarks along the route include the Covadonga Basilica.
The race, organised by the Cangas de Onís Atlhletics Club and with the EDP FOUNDATION as the main sponsor, was held for the 28th time this year. One thousand people took part. The winner of the Men’s Category was Jorge Manuel Pérez, with a time of 1 hour, 10 minutes and 38 seconds. This was just 3 minutes off beating the best time (01:07:35). The winner of the women’s category won a Gamonedo cheese and of the men's a River Sella salmon.
Luz Minera is the title of the winning project of the second Public Art Ideas Competition, a competition organised by the EDP Foundation.
