09.20.2016

The EDP Foundation has completed the assessment process of the projects submitted to “EDP Solidarity 2016”. The Foundation has selected 15 out of the 49 proposed actions and they will receive a total contribution of EUR 400,000. The projects include “Bringing wellbeing, workshop and leisure activities to children and teenagers with cancer and relatives at Cruces University Hospital” by Aspanovas Bizkaia in the Basque Country, “Social Genomics: identifying the genetic causes of minority diseases” by the Oviedo University Foundation, in the Principality of Asturias, or "Refugees and HR volunteers for professional alignment”, by the Personas y Empresas Foundation in Madrid.

The successful projects were selected by a jury, whose members were the heads of the different divisions of the company. The projects will soon get underway under the supervision of EDP managers and volunteers.

“EDP SOLIDARITY 2016” is a scheme driven by the EDP Foundation. Its main aim is to contribute to improving the quality of life of the people in the areas where EDP operates, by means of supporting sustainable projects aimed at offsetting pressing social needs, fostering a better quality of life and the integration of the most vulnerable individuals and groups and at risk of exclusion, along with promoting employment and entrepreneurship.
