The Royal Philarmonic Orchestra was the one in charge to initiate 62ª edition of this festival, and in the previous minutes at the beginning of the concert the maximum representatives of the regional and local administrations met in the hall of the Palace of Fesitivales, that shared theater box with the EDP people in charge.

In this inaugural finery they were the president of the Government of Cantabria, Ignacio Diego; the mayor of Santander, Íñigo of the Serna; the Jose, Secretary of State of Culture Maria Lasalle; the adviser of Culture of Cantabria, Miguel Serna Angel; and the adviser of Industry, Eduardo Arasti.

The Royal Philarmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Edward Gardner, and Adolph Gutiérrez Sands to the violin, interpreted a variable program that concluded with 'fantastic Symphony' of Hector Berlioz.
