Cáritas Bizkaia, Cruz Roja Bizkaia and the EDP Foundation have signed an agreement to collaborate on the ‘Energy Solidarity 2019’ project. This initiative aims to improve the safety, welfare and energy efficiency of deprived families and of the centres in the Basque Country where the organisations signing the agreement provide their support.
The actions that the programme includes range from energy audits and technical inspections to replacing basic equipment (LEDs, radiators, boilers, etc) and the EDP Foundation will be allocating 30.000 euros for this purpose. Since 2015, it has invested more than 740,000 euros in the ‘Energy Solidarity’ project, which have benefitted more than 62,000 people.
The agreement was signed in Bilbao by the CEO of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins, the representative of Cruz Roja Bilbao, Víctor Gutierrez, and by Carlos Bargos, on behalf of Cáritas Diocesana de Bilbao.
With this project, both charitable institutions aim to analyse, identify and implement measures aimed at reducing energy bills and encouraging sustainable consumer behaviour in order to increase their social impact.
