The Royal Institute of Asturian Studies (RIDEA) is offering an authentic virtual experience for the senses, with the “Santullano, a journey to the IX century” exhibition until the 25th of June. The exhibition, sponsored by the EDP Foundation, is a unique opportunity to take a close look at Pre-Romanesque art in Asturias with an entertaining, but at the same time, totally rigorous historical approach.
A group of twenty collaborators attended a guided tour where they were able to get a first-hand impression of the exhibition and discover the creative process behind it.
‘Santullano, a journey to the IX century consists of various spaces that will awaken visitors’ senses. Thanks to some virtual reality glasses, they will be able to get to know what the church was like at that time, with a recreation of the original frescos. They will also be able to discover what the church smelt like, listen to music from this period and even touch the clothes that King Alfonso II and his nobles wore.
The exhibition is free and can be visited on Thursday and Friday from 17:30 to 20:30, and on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:30 to 20:30.
The economic newspaper Expansión recognised the organisation as a ‘sustainable institution’ at the sixth edition of the ‘Innovación + Sostenibilidad + Red 2020’ awards
