The season of chamber music concerts at the Niemeyer Centre will return in the autumn, sponsored by the EDP Foundation. This year, five artists will take to the stage on three different dates. Violinist Jorge Jiménez will feature in the first recital on October 27. Noelia Rodiles and Fernando Arias will perform on November 24th and Asturians María Cueva and Paula Lueje will bring the season to an end on December 29.
Jorge Jiménez will present his show 'Contrapunctus' at the Niemeyer Centre, “a tribute to the violin” that has seen him perform in such picturesque spaces as 16th-century palaces in Barcelona, castles in Croatia, a disused warship in Amsterdam and even an abandoned power station in Berlin.
In November, pianist Noelia Rodiles and cellist Fernando Arias will perform two pieces that will feature on their next recording: Shostakovich's sonata and Dohnányi’s unknown sonata, both for cello and piano.
Lastly, pianist María Cueva Méndez and singer Paula Lueje will present the Añadas Project, the aim of which is to revive and disseminate traditional lullabies that have survived due to oral tradition.
All of the concerts in the ‘Suena la Cúpula’ season are scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
