The president of Oviedo Town Hall's Culture Foundation, José Luis Costillas Gutiérrez, and the executive director of the EDP Foundation, Vanda Martins, have renewed the sponsorship contract for the purpose of establishing a cooperation framework between the two organisations in support of the symphony concerts in 2019/2020, organised by the Culture Foundation in the 'Príncipe Felipe' Auditorium.
The function of the EDP Foundation, which has sponsored the concerts since 2013, is to boost the EDP Group's commitment at locations in which it conducts its business, paying particular attention, among other areas, to culture, and most especially musical initiatives.
The 'Auditorium Concerts' season is composed of 13 symphony concerts to bring some of the world's best soloists and symphony orchestras to Asturias. Names such as Sir Simon Rattle, James Conlon, Javier Camarena, Isabelle Faust and Jakub Orlinsky, with orchestras such as the London Symphony, the Ghent Orchestra and Choruses, France's Les Siècles and Italy's RAI National Orchestra will feature alongside the Oviedo Philharmonic, with top soloists and the debut of conductor Lucas Macías.
The season commences on Saturday 26 October with the Oviedo Philharmonic led by its conductor Lucas Macías, and ends on 24 May with Verdi's Requiem Mass.
Season tickets are available up to 27 October for these concerts and for the Piano Concerts, with a 20% discount on the price of one-off seats.
Luz Minera is the title of the winning project of the second Public Art Ideas Competition, a competition organised by the EDP Foundation.
