The Asturias Parkinson’s Association has awarded the 2019 Golden Tulip to the EDP Foundation. The ceremony took place this morning at an event held at the Asturian Centre in Oviedo and was attended by Nerea Eguren, Director General of Planning, Organisation and Social Innovation, Antonio Molejón, Director General of Public Health, Enrique Fernández, Mayor of San Martín del Rey Aurelio, Marisa Ponga, Councillor for the Department of Assistance to People and Equality of Oviedo City Council and Teresa Iglesias, Councillor for Social Welfare of Mieres Town Council.
The Asturias Parkinson’s Association wanted to highlight the awareness shown by the EDP Foundation, and its support and promotion of initiatives that improve the quality of life of those affected by the disease, as well as its efforts to reduce inequalities and make inroads into building a more just, equitable and socially responsible society. The award ceremony was particularly important as it coincided with International Parkinson's Day.
