The three vehicles are part of the current EDP fleet and were refuelled and charged at the company's facilities. A natural gas hybrid vehicle was added to the electric vehicles that the EDP FOUNDATION has lent for several years now. EDP and the automotive sector are currently pushing for vehicle natural gas. In fact, EDP, as a gas distributor, is currently replacing its current fleet with gas vehicles. It currently has over 50 vehicles using this technology.

Both the electric and natural gas technologies meet the needs of consumers who are increasingly more aware of protecting the environment and sustainability mobility.

With the loan of these three vehicles, the Príncipe de Asturias Foundation continued to be firmly committed to offsetting and reducing its carbon footprint during Prize Week. This initiative is part of the partnership with the Ecology and Development Foundation (ECODES), resulting in the Awards holding the label CeroCO2 label.
