The EDP Foundation has renewed the collaboration agreement it has had with the Santander International Festival for several years, enabling it, on this occasion, to hold the inaugural concert with the RTVE Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, and featuring pianist Barry Douglas.

The executive director of the Santander International Festival Foundation, Valentina Granados, and the Director of Resources and Institutional Relations of EDP in Spain, Rafael Careaga, have signed an agreement that once again reaffirms the commitment that the energy company has made to the Festival, thus demonstrating its support for one of the most important cultural events of the summer.

The concert will be held at 8:30 pm in the Argenta Room at the Palacio de Festivales de Santander (Festival Hall of Cantabria) on Wednesday, August 1. The audience will be able to listen to Beethoven's Concerto No. 3 for piano and orchestra and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4. The event is being held in collaboration with the Paloma O'Shea Santander International Piano Competition, a competition that Barry Douglas won in 1980, at the start of his musical career.

“The support of entities such as the EDP Foundation means a lot to us because it allows us to design a programme with quality events and top class artists. Having the support of private companies helps us to achieve some of our main objectives, such as attracting new audiences, making the Festival grow and becoming more ambitious,” said Valentina Granados.

With the renewal of this agreement, the EDP Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to one of the most important cultural events in Cantabria, as well as the Cantabrian region itself, which is one of its main areas of influence. “We are once again supporting the important work carried out by the Santander International Festival as a sign of our firm commitment to culture. The EDP Foundation is proud to collaborate in a musical event of this nature. It is an event that promotes the cultural development of Santander and Cantabria and being part of the Festival means a lot to us”, commented Rafael Careaga.
