On June 9, Vitoria-Gasteiz hosted the sixth edition of the Women’s Race, with the entry quota filled a week before the event. 4,000 women took part in the most important female sporting event in Europe, with the registration fees helping to raise funds in the fight against breast cancer.
Two hours before the official start it rained very heavily, but by the start of the race the weather had abated and the tide of pink T-shirts was able to complete the 5-kilometre flat circuit through the city.
The EDP Foundation provided the arch at the finish line, inflatables that the children enjoyed while their mothers ran in the event and various railings that marked out the route.
Luz Minera is the title of the winning project of the second Public Art Ideas Competition, a competition organised by the EDP Foundation.
