Cáritas Asturias and Fundación EDP renew their commitment to the Solidarity Energy initiative

Cáritas Asturias and Fundación EDP have renewed their commitment to the Solidarity Energy initiative Led by Fundación EDP, the aim is to increase the safety, well-being and energy efficiency of vulnerable families, the centres used by NGOs collaborating with the initiative, Cáritas and the Spanish Red Cross.

The collaboration agreement has been signed in Oviedo by the director of Cáritas Asturias, Ignacio Alonso, and the executive director of Fundación EDP, Vanda Martins. Both entities have collaborated with the Solidarity Energy initiative since it was launched in 2015.

Under this agreement, Cáritas Asturias shall identify the persons, families and centres that can benefit from the actions included in the Solidarity Energy initiative: energy audits, technical inspections, the processing of energy certificates and the replacement of equipment such as light fittings, radiators and boilers. All the improvements are to be made by EDP's professionals.

For 2018, Fundación EDP is to allocate a total of €162.000 to the Solidarity Energy initiative, to be distributed among Asturias, the Basque Country, Cantabria, Madrid and La Coruña.

In 2017, the improvements made achieved average annual energy savings of 17% in the energy consumption of the persons, families and centres that took part in the initiative.

Since it began in 2015, Fundación EDP has allocated more than €437,000 to the Solidarity Energy initiative, which has made improvements in the homes of 178 families and 32 centres, benefiting a total of 22,500 people.
