175 Students from the University of Oviedo begin their training at EDP

The EDP Foundation scholarship programme is underway. 175 students from the University of Oviedo, from more than 30 specialities, joined EDP this month to carry out training practices during the 2015-2016. year The welcome for the new trainees was held on Wednesday at the Gijón Polytechnic School of Engineering. This programme was presented by the Director of Student Services, Ángeles Ceínos, and the director of the EDP Foundation, Nicanor Fernández.

This welcome event was held to introduce the students to the EDP Group and the policies that it has adopted in various fields, such as information security, the environment and occupational health and safety. In addition, the students learned the destinations at which they will carry out their training, covering all areas of the company.

For 2015-2016, the EDP Foundation has has allocated a million euros to the programme. The University of Oviedo selected 175 students after receiving more than 400 applications during the scholarship application period. The 30 degrees covered include Business Administration and Management, Trade and Marketing, Chemistry and Electrical Engineering. Each scholarship has a duration of six months, which can be extended.

In addition to the agreement with the University of Oviedo, the EDP Foundation has signed agreements with other universities and schools to encourage the training of more students in the different work facilities and centres that the company has in other communities. Thus, more than 15 students will carry out their training in Madrid, Barcelona, La Coruña, Valencia and Zaragoza.

The EDP Foundation scholarship programme is one of the most important initiatives that the Foundation itself undertakes and the most noteworthy training plan of the University of Oviedo. Since its launch in 1984, more than 100 people who have taken part in the programme have been incorporated into the EDP Group workforce in Spain.
